I know Sally doesn’t do her own blog posts but today is a day I won’t forget. Today 4 years ago sweet Happy Hannah gained her Angel Wings. I know I was totally devastated to hear that news. She had beat the odds by a Year and 2 months. We all wonder how our dogs will do on 3 legs. I won’t forget the first time Sally posted and was panicked and worried she did the wrong thing. We helped her through the recover and Sally has been our biggest cheerleader on the site ever since she joined. Even going through grief she has helped many many others.
Here is to Sally & Happy Hannah. She will never be forgotten Sally
Happy Hannah’s Snacks
I found this that Martha from the Oak Town Pack posted on the original post Sally did. I wanted to re-share this
Things to do after your dog has died
Sweep the floor
Look out the window
Pant
Make a cup of tea and some toast
But then not eat them
Change the sheets on the bed
Try to sing
Start to cry
Forget what day it is
Stumble into a corner of the floor and hold your knees tightly
Keen
Pull yourself together
Make another cup of tea and this time drink it
Look out a different window
Stare at that spot on the floor where your dog used to stretch out, languid and happy, his paws twitching as he raced across sleep meadows and into dream ravines filled with moss and ferns and the scent of foxes
Look for the Kleenex
Use toilet paper instead
Wander around the house, your heart like a damned anvil in your chest
Heat up leftovers
Push them around the plate before leaving the entire thing in the sink
Look for what is not there
Hear things
Feel the forgotten fur beneath your fingertips
Feel the forgetting begin
Hold a memory, any memory, bright and shining, soft and sad, smelling of wet fur and leaves, with a whisker there and muddy paw prints left on the stairs, of a walk of a hike of a trip to the park with a treat and a bone and a belly rub snacks stolen off the counter and tug of war and the squeaky toy a glance of complicity in play with your hand on head with tail wagging and breath misting in the morning light or the moon over the trees while an owl croons ears are pricked and nose to the ground sniffing, sniffing, sniffing following the invisible trail to its joyful finding
Put on your pajamas
Turn around three times before you curl up by the rope toy and find yourself chasing the echo of a bark into a night that will never end
Grow a tail

PS Here is the link to Happy Hannah’s story. If you are new please make sure to take time to check it out. It is long but it is a very true picture of feelings and recovery

This was so sweet of you Michelle! Happy Angelversary to our beloved Happy Hannah! Even though Hannah was before my time here…as I got to know each of you I went back and read all your stories. Hannah lived the most extrodinary life with Sally and I know she was just the happiest Mastiff of all time. And Sally validates Hannah’s journey every single day by continuing to share that love with us all. Thank you Hannah for sharing your Mom with all of us. I know you’re proudly pointing out to the “newbies” as they arrive….”hey you know that Benny55, Sally on Tripawds? Well she’s my Mom”! Thinking of both you and Hannah today with love and am so thankful to call you my friend!
Me too. I was going through the posts today about Hannah. I remember the day Sally joined really well. 🙂 Ever since then she has been a great friend. Our biggest cheerleader no matter what she is going through. I was very honored last year when I finally got to meet her.
xoxoxo
I remember, too, when Sally joined us on Tripawds. I also remember sitting upstairs at my computer and reading that Hannah had had her last meal with a dessert of ice cream and deer poop. I came downstairs and told Garry that Hannah had crossed the Bridge. We both cried long and hard and held each other.
Sally and Hannah will always be the spirit of Tripawds to us.
Thank you Michelle for sharing these very special memories with all of us.
Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel…and the Labradork
I think it hit us all so hard. I just wanted to do something special to remember Hannah. Sally is always there for all of us no matter what is going on in her life. Thanks for sharing your memory Kathi.
I love this so much. It really shows what;s behind Sally. This history predates us by years, but Sally is special to newbies as well. Sally comments her wisdom on everything we write, and was one of the first here to hop in (pun intended) and remind us to Be More Dog. Gives me hope someday I’ll also pull myself together–I’d love to Be More Sally.
Sally is awesome 🙂 I think there are times I need to be more Sally.
what a beautiful heart-felt thing to do for Angel Sally! Nobody has a bigger heart than her, we are all better people (and pawrents) because of her. I love your comment, “I need to be more Sally”….truer words were never spoken. I’m honored to call her friend. Happy angelversary Hannah, and thank you for sharing your mom with us.

This is a beautiful tribute, Michelle. I had to bookmark it to come back. You see all the love between Sally and Hannah and the love and thought you poured into the post!❤️
I have read Sally’s first posts before. Hannah brought Sally here as I believe all our animals do for more significant purposes we find out later.
Not where any of wish to join but to have the support of everyone makes all the difference. An extraordinary community of people that genuinely care. I believe that is rare these days! This was the first and only forum we have ever been on, but I have not doubt it has the best of humanity within it.
We had the pleasure of seeing so many photos during the fubucket deal. I feel like we got to know so many of the pups & furmily that way!
Thanks for making such a special tribute to Hannah & Sally! You are a special soul Michelle. 😘
We appreciate you too!
Hope your shoulder is getting better!
Hugs!
Holly & Purrkins❤️
Thanks Holly. Uhm, shoulder is somewhat better (it takes time) and Friday the 13 i was rear-ended and was in an accident so now back is hurting and have had a headache for 4 days. I guess that will take time too. LOL just my luck.
What a lovely tribute to a wonderful woman and her angel.
I just finished reading this and wiping my eyes. Michelle, this tribute is just amazing. It is so incredibly kind and heartfelt.
I am usually bopping all over balancing work, home, furbabies, my wonderful husband, and I have not read everybody’s story yet. Most of what I know is what I have gotten to know just being in all of your company. I am going to have to make a point to do some more reading.
I also feel very fortunate to have found this place and all of the wonderful people that I have gotten to know here. If it weren’t for Huck I would never have believed that so many wonderful people still exist, especially under one roof! It is truly inspiring and refreshing.
This is such a special gift for Sally, and how you created it says a lot about you also. I hope you are feeling better soon, so sorry about the accident. That was the last thing you needed after your shoulder. I hope you are feeling better soon!
Sending gentle hugs and lots of love,
Jackie and Huck
