Well Sassy got her new attire for her chemo appointment on Wed. She will be looking pretty in pink. Its our good luck charm since so far no delays and we are hoping to keep it that way 🙂 We will have some chemo partners across the country that day. Hoping Jill (the cat) will keep us company in spirit. Good luck Erica & Jill.

Today Sassy had a very great day. She got out & about. She had her pictures taken so a friend could draw her in charcol & pencils. He is so awesome has done great work here in Council Bluffs. When I get the drawing back I will post it but I am going to share his website so everyone can take a look at his work. http://www.barkmcanine.com/graphite-gallery.html Any how, Sassy walked great out in public first time that we have really gone out of the car since she has had 3 chemo appointments. Wed is number 4.

I took Sassy to her chemo first chemo appointment I have gotten to do that. Did her intial blood test to check the white cell count 12,000 said it was normal. We also had a chemistry panel done so we knew what the liver & kidneys were doing. According to Dr Boyer ” pristine blood work” everything looked great. Did Cerenia before the chemo next dose can be given at 8 am Thursday. Picked Sassy up and she ate some chicken, rice & broth. Sassy is resting.
Next Chemo # 4 is on Feburary 13th. Total of 2 left after this one. I am so glad things are going great.

It’s hard to belive it has been two months since you had your leg amputated Sassy. I love you so much I would do anything to save you from this nasty Osteo. You are doing so great for most everyone not being sure if you could handle being a Tripawd. The best thing that happened in this mess of things is finding the Tripawd website. Everyone there has been great and such a great support system to me. I got to snuggle with Sassy up on the bed today. It is great to do that when you want too. Wish it was more often but I think that will come with time 🙂
I got some helpful hints about possibly getting a Cerenia shot before the chemo.

Bad day for eating. Sassy would only eat yogurt. I tried hamburger & rice, Pet fresh food, tried canned dog food from Merrick that she nornally likes. Nope she wouldn’t eat anything. Finally went to McDonalds (yeah, I know not the best) but I got her to eat 2 hamburger patties. I went to the store and bought cottage cheese thinking she would like that nope. Licked it and turned her nose up and scooted away. So back to the store I went and got some boneless, skinless chicken thighs. That was the winner this time.

2 days after 2nd chemo. Sassy didn’t want to eat this morning. Did get her to eat a little yogurt. She slept most of the day. I left to go out to dinner she was ok when I left but by the time I got home she had gotten sick. I gave her another nausea pill and more yogurt. I couldn’t get her to eat anything but a little yogurt and a tiny bit of hamburger mixed with rice. I even tried Pet fresh food. Nothing worked she just turned her nose up at it.

Blood work was great proceeded with the chemo. Sassy was very cuddley tonight. She was sleeping really sound. Seems like both of these treatments she comes home and sleeps really hard. She ate really good. Gave her a nausea pill. Treatment went well so far so good.

Well its New Year’s eve. Hopefully 2013 will be a great year for us and we will continue to kick cancer’s evil butt. Today was another milestone for us as Sassy finally laid on her amputation side. It seems like a long time since she did that. Her right side was her favorite side to always lay on. Happy New Years everyone.

Sassy’s first Christmas as a Tripawd. She is doing great. I noticed that since she is still not laying on the side that her leg was amputated on yet that if she doesn’t move she has a hard time supporting her weight on that one back leg. I think it has something to do with maybe all the weight on the good side for too long. Once she gets up & moving though she does fine. Sassy loves the snow. Thinks that she has to walk through the deepest parts of the snow.

Sassy’s first snow as a Tripawd. She has done pretty well. The snow was about 6-8 inches deep. This is making her back leg a little stonger but wish we would have had a little time to build more strength. Sassy wanted to play with Bosch was bouncing at him trying to get him to play. A few tummy problems today which is 4 days after chemo. Not sure if that has anything with it or not. Will keep watching and watch after the next chemo to see if she gets not feeling well.
